Do you want to market your blog fast and easy? Thanks to the rise of social media, blog and content promotion is easier. If you notice that almost all businesses have resorted to marketing products and service through social media, that’s because it’s where readers, consumers, sellers and everyone else gathers. Get attention by creating a wide and active online social presence.
How do you get attention? Enter social networking sites Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and media sharing sites Flickr and Youtube. These social media spots have different uses and purposes but the bottom line is they effectively promote, market or sell your blog, product or service. A blog itself is a social networking tool, but how can you further attract a wider audience and solid following? Read on.
Promote your content on various social media sites. Link your posts or articles to different social networking sites to alert your friends and followers and have a better chance of attracting more readers. For example, you can add a note in Facebook which will become your teaser write-up and then let them click through your link to your site for the entire post. You can also tweet your post’s title or any descriptive phrase and include a link to your blog so your followers will be redirected. Take note though that Twitter limits you to 140 characters so you need to be creative in your tweets and use URL shorteners.
Consider posting videos and photos. If you’re multimedia-savvy, upload videos on Youtube and photos on Flickr or Tumblr as an extension to your blog. When they view your videos and photos on their media sharing sites, they must be encouraged, interested and curious enough to go to your main blog.
Use social media buttons and sharing plugins on your site. Blogging platforms such as Blogger and WordPress have integrated social media buttons that you can place at the end of each article so you and your readers can share what you’ve written. Likewise, third-party social bookmarking tools and sharing plugins such as AddThis and StumbleUpon allow you disseminate your content in just one go. They provide many sharing options and are quite easy to install and use.
Blog regularly. It’s quite important that you have a regular posting schedule to keep things up-to-date and interesting. Some bloggers post at least 2-3 a week while others religiously publish daily. You can create a blogging schedule – set a day for the actual writing and posting while other days are for research. If you target daily postings to get more traffic, you can allow guest posts or guest bloggers to fill in or have a team of writers to make your goal possible. And, because your blog has a wide audience, always do a grammar check so your articles are easy to read and understand.
